The history of Rehab’Impulse products dates back to the 1990s when the ICRC’s Physical Rehabilitation Programme developed its own prosthetic technology. Established in 1979, this programme was initially designed to support the physical rehabilitation of victims of armed conflict and other violence. Over the decades, it has significantly evolved, now providing comprehensive care: from initial consultation to social inclusion.
The Rehab’Impulse technology was specifically developed to produce high-quality affordable prosthetic and orthotic devices that are easy to assemble, low maintenance, and well-suited for low-resource settings where the ICRC is active. Thanks to simple but robust design principles and highly resistant materials, our components are recognized as durable and easy to use by many other organizations and customers globally.
Our prosthetic components are industrially manufactured in Switzerland by our partner Fondation Alfaset and comply with the relevant international standards (ISO, CE mark). Within this foundation, people with disabilities are producing these components benefitting other people with disabilities living around the world. Today, Rehab’Impulse products are available to everyone in need of appropriate and cost effective prosthetic and orthotic components designed to withstand the most demanding environments.
Our vision is to ensure our products contribute to persons with physical disabilities reaching their full potential in society. Our mission is to provide evolutionary, appropriate and high-quality components for mobility-enabling assistive technology, leaving no one behind.
